From Swing It Out, a 30 post challenge about Lindy Hop.

Q: What is your favorite place to dance?

The best nights out dancing I’ve ever had are the Saturday night dances at Omaha’s swing festival Cowtown Jamborama.  I consider it my ‘dance home’.  The energy of that event – a social, laid back party, venues with character – is so conducive to just killing it on the social floor.  Not only that, it draws so many of my regional dancing friends that I’ve gotten to know over the 10 years I’ve been dancing in the Midwest.  The event feels like a reunion.  It’s cozy, familiar, but always exciting because of the great fun to have swinging out.

The wood floor at the Eagles Club is a really really nice floor.  It’s stained, yes.  There are ugly electronic dart boards on the wall, yes.  I don’t know what’s going on with the shag carpet on the bandstand, but the floor is a really really great floor.  I think it was transplanted from some old timey bumper car pavilion or something.

I’ve been to other events like Hawkeye Swing Fest, and Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown when it was at the Varsity Theater in the Twin Cities and they were amazing events.  But I keep going back to the Jamborama and it keeps being kickass.
